The many nations of Golarion are largely based on real-world counterpart cultures. As such, I will strive to bring about an internal consistency to the accents of each culture, and I encourage players to do the same. Players who utilize accents in their character interactions will be awarded a Hero Point for roleplaying above and beyond the call of duty.
My primary reason for this is to begin to build a world with enough internal consistency for the group to hear an accent and be able to place a character's origins more easily—just as one can do in the real world. For my own sanity, and for players' ease of use, I will be compiling a list of languages and regions of origin, and listing their respective real-world accent, in this handout.
|Language||Country/Region of Origin||Real-World Equivalent|
|Common (Taldane)||Based on Ancient Azlanti, Varisian||No/neutral accent|
|Elven||Native tongue of the elves of Kyonin||Received pronunciation English|
|Draconic||Language of dragons, spoken throughout Brevoy due to Choral the Conqueror's draconic influence.||Germanic-influence old English|
|Dwarven||Native tongue of the dwarves of the Darklands||Scottish|
|Hallit||Kellid tribes in the north of Avistan||Russian|
|Skald||Land of the Linnorm Kings; historical interplay with Dwarven alphabet and pronunciation.||Scottish|
